“Sad tastes like crisps, Tired tastes like ice-cream…”
You’re tired. You look at a bag of potato crisps and a creamy slice of cake, and knowing you should skip them, what do you do? Eat both of course.
Eating a whole tub of Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream when you’re sad. Ordering a family sized pepperoni pizza for yourself when you’ve given up on yet another diet. You become the cookie monster when you are angry.
Are you tired of doing this?
There are so many layers to food and it’s such an important part of our lives. It’s not just about nutrition; it’s social, cultural, emotional, comforting and so much more. It’s no wonder we reach for food in times of emotional stress. There is often so much guilt and deprivation surrounding our binges. Falling off the healthy bandwagon and not getting back on makes the situation feel worse.
So what can you do about it? Would you like to feel more at ease with food? Perhaps you would like to feel healthier and fitter? Certainly feel less guilt!
